About Us
The Korean Legal Clinic (“KLC”) was founded by Korean-Canadian lawyers in Toronto. The KLC aims to improve access to justice for Korean-Canadians by providing culturally and linguistically appropriate legal services, education, and resources with our partner organizations.
한인법률클리닉은 한인 사회를 위하는 뜻과 마음을 가진 토론토 내 한인변호사들로 구성된 위원회에 의하여 설립되었습니다. 본 위원회는 협력기관과의 협업을 통해 경제적인 어려움을 겪고 있거나, 언어 및 문화 장벽으로 인하여 법적 보호를 충분히 받지 못하는 온타리오 주 거주 한인 동포분들을 위한 법률 서비스 및 교육을 지원하는 것을 목표로 하고있습니다.

In addition to linguistic, cultural and education barriers faced by many Korean-Canadians, there are significant numbers of low-income individuals and families. Korean-speaking individuals often face challenges in accessing legal services because of the very low ratio of Korean-speaking licensees to the population.
캐나다 내 많은 한인분들은 언어, 문화, 그리고 교육적 장벽에 직면하고 있을 뿐만 아니라, 상당수가 저소득층에 속해 어려움을 겪고 있습니다. 이에 반해, 한국어로 소통할 수 있는 변호사의 수는 매우 제한적이어서 많은 한인분들이 법적 보호를 충분히 받지 못하고 있습니다.
Based on the Law Society of Ontario’s numbers, approximately 470 of the 52,000 lawyers licensed by the Law Society of Ontario are Korean.
온타리오주 변호사협회(Law Society of Ontario)의 조사에 따르면, 온타리오에서 활동 중인 52,000명 이상의 변호사 중 약 470명만이 한국계인 것으로 나타났습니다.
In the 2021 Census, Ontario is home to approximately 100,025 individuals of Korean descent, accounting for about 0.7% of the province’s total population.

The 2021 Census reported that close to 1 in 5 Korean Canadians live below the poverty line, which is more than twice the national average.
